In this article an Eastern European group of cyber thieves hijacked approximately four million computers all over the world, to include   the United States. The accused seven hackers stole 14 million dollars of income using a malware scheme. It reaped profits from internet advertisement deals, by not allowing computers to install anti-virus software and reroute unsuspecting customers to their site. During a four-year period they hacked into, and infected different U.S government agencies, and sites such as iTunes. They operated out of their home countries of Estonian and Russia, but used sites from the U.S and all over the world according to the FBI. However, today the FBI and some of their allies are capable of using the same technology to globally catch criminals. Assistant Director Janice Fedarcyk, said the internet is a useful tool, but it can also be used for bad intentions. This is reason for skeptics to be aware of what sites they are using when on the internet and social media. This article can be related to our assignment on social media because it too is rapidly evolving. But rest assured as long as technology continues to evolve, both the criminals and government agencies will evolve too.
